ScrollEd wants to turn textbooks into TikTok
ScrollEd, a Palo Alto startup competing in TechCrunch Disrupt's Startup Battlefield 200, offers an app that converts textbooks and PDFs into TikTok-style vertical feeds featuring AI-generated video, audio, text, and interactive quizzes, with swipe-up for new topics and side-swipes for deeper dives. Bootstrapped by Stanford's Utsav Gupta and UPenn's Rebecca Neff, it targets educational institutions, corporate training, and individual consumers via a freemium model (free feed, paid Pro subscription, and annual institutional licenses with engagement analytics) and plans to launch its consumer product at Disrupt on October 13-15.

score
score 5 out of 10. 0-10: how dense the facts are, multiplied by how much you can do with them after reading. 8+ means the topic's evidence bar is met: benchmarks and availability for a new model, amount and investors for a funding round, revenue figures for a solo-money story. Below 5 an item does not enter the digest. A press release scores 3 or less, a reprint loses 2, anything older than 14 days loses 1, a headline that misleads loses 3.
