Alibaba DAMO Academy's open-sourced DAMO RADAR, published in Science, is the first expert-level generalist medical imaging AI, detecting 146 diseases across 18 abdominal structures via vision-language contrastive learning with organ-level fine-grained alignment. It achieved AUCs of 0.913 (39k internal cases), 0.895 (24k external CTs from 8 hospitals), and 0.904 on 27k emergency cases, outperforming 23 of 26 radiologists while boosting clinician sensitivity by ~10% and cutting reading time by 30%+.
